Salon des art décoratifs 2009

Last weekend (October 15 to 18) was held our annual decorative painting convention here in Quebec. Le Salon des arts décoratifs was in Boucherville, Québec. Here are a few moments taken during the convention, with photos of some artists that those who are decorative painters will surely recognize.

Zarra - cont'd

Well Zarra is definitely part of your family now. Even Chico our overweight, sluggish, bachelor is starting to get friendly with our 7 month old baby. Last week she was sterilized, and has absolutely no side effects from the operation. The vet says not to let her jump and play too hard. HA! Tell that to a kitten. She doesn't know she's had surgery! She came into our lives at a very opportune time, and we can't help ourselves to love her to pieces.

This darling little kitten adopted us 2 weeks ago. My son's girlfriend heard her mewing in my hosta bed. At first I wasn't sure I wanted another cat. We already have Chico. But this one is so darn adorable, it looks like she's going to stay. I wanted to call her Zorro, but Pierre said that was not a good name, cause she's a SHE. So therefore she is now called Zarra. Her first visit to the vet is next Monday.
It's that time of the year when I can now sit back and enjoy the fruits of all the labor done in March, April and May. All I need to do now is watch out for the weeds. Here are just a few photos of what's in bloom today. I love taking photos early in the morning on days like today. Cloudy, just after the rain. The colors are so vibrant and the rain drops on the flower petals are so cool and beautiful. There will be so many more varieties coming in bloom in the weeks to come.

Now there should be some time to get back to some serious painting.

Charlie's Barber Shop

This is my first attempt painting with watercolor pencils. Marilyn Harris-Mills is the teacher and this was on on line class from Decorative Artists in Canada. http://daic.ca/classes.html.

Cold pressed 140lb 9'' X 12'' watercolor paper
Faber Castell student grade watercolor pencils

I really enjoyed doing this, and will definitely continue to learn more about using watercolor pencils.
